Restraining order on three D-group members

A restraining order was issued yesterday by Mount Lavinia Magistrate Mohomed Lafir restraining Mahinda Wijesekara, Gamini Lokuge and Prof. G.L. Pieris from participating in executive committee meetings of the United National Party.

The order has been issued restraining the UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and its leader Ranil Wickremesinghe from inviting, three United National Party D-Group Parliamentarians for the executive committee meetings.

Accordingly the three UNP D-group members will not be invited for the executive committee meetings.

Appearing for the respondent party, Sujeewa Senasinghe pointed out that these Parliamentarians have violated the rules of the party and have acted against the collective responsibility of the UNP.

Under this restraining order the UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and the General Secretory Tissa Attanayake cannot invite these three members to the executive committee meetings.
