Air Force pounds Tiger base

Air Force fighter jets pounded the LTTE military detachment and logistics base yesterday afternoon south of Mullaitivu, Puthukkudiyiruppu causing heavy damages to the LTTE Air Force spokesman Group Captain Ajantha Silva said.

According to Silva the Air Force kfir and MIG fighter jets carried out an air strike yesterday at around 2.00 pm targeting an LTTE base used for supply of military hardware and equipment to LTTE cadres. "It was a transporting centre of the LTTE and was located in Puthukkudiyiruppu, south of Mullaitivu", he added.

The target was precise and accurate and was determined through ground intelligence sources and air surveillance, GC Silva said.

The target was destroyed with heavy damages caused to the LTTE detachment.
