Karatekas leave for Tokyo

A Karate team led by Branch Chief and Chief Instructor of NPO World
Karate Organisation Sensei Piyaratne Muthukumarana left yesterday for
Tokyo to attend the 9th World Open Karate Championship to be held on
October 13 and 14 at Metropolitan Gymnasium.
Fighters from 74 branches all over the world will participate in this
event. This Championship will be conducted according to Full Contact
rules of late Sosai master Oyama, the undefeated Karate Exponent in the
world, Muthukumarana said.
Dumidu Dayasen Ratiyala and Nalin Sumedha Maramba Vithana will
represent Sri Lanka in the World Open Karate Championship. Sensei
Piyaratne Muthukumarana will be a judge from Sri Lanka in this event.
Vice President of the Organisation K.P.N. Silva, the Chairman of
Skill Development Fund will also participate as a special invitee at the
World Open Karate Championship.
Sri Lankan D. D. Ratiyala will participate at an International Karate
Seminar and Grading Test which will be held after the Tournament on
October 16 and 17. |
