Road shows for Mannar Basin
Road Shows to promote the Mannar Basin Licensing Round were held in
London (September 10 to 14), Houston (September 17 to 21) and Kuala
Lumpur (September 24 to 28).
The road shows consisted of a series of talks, one to one meetings
with oil and gas companies and a digital data room.
The presentations focused on the business climate and investment
opportunities in Sri Lanka, the petroleum potential of the Mannar Basin
and the Model Petroleum Resources Agreement. Notice inviting offers,
format for submission of bids and the Model Petroleum Resources
Agreement were made available to the interested parties at the road show
venues.
A total of 42 companies attended the road shows of which seven were
major oil companies and 11 were independent and National Oil Companies.
The Mannar Basin Licensing Round (SL 2007-1) offers three exploration
blocks, each around 3500 km2 in area, for oil and gas exploration
companies. Technically and financially competent foreign and domestic
bidders are invited to bid for any or all of the three blocks on offer.
