Distilleries returned to the top of the list Business Today TOP 10
list. The awards ceremony was held at the Presidential Secretariat on
Tuesday.
The Company, which is a landmark success in privatisation, has
stamped its mark on how to make an average performer a superior
performer by strategically diversifying and relentlessly pursuing
excellence.
Since the introduction of the Business Today Top 10, it has been
dominated by banks and companies from the financial sector. Development
banks were prominent among these players, but over the years their
prominance diminished and in the latest list no development banks are
present.
Banks such as Commercial Bank and HNB have been regular within the
top five. It is also noteworthy that some of the traditional big names
in Sri Lankan business would do well to rethink their business models if
they are to hold their lead positions in long term.
The Ven. Galaboda Gnanasavra Thero who made a sermon said that the
corporate community should come out with new regulatory framework to
benefit newly married working couples. President Mahinda Rakjapaksa
also took time off his busy schedule to present the awards to
the winners.
