First website for a deity in Sri Lanka

MAHIYANGANAYA: The first website for a deity created in Sri Lanka was launched on Binara Poya Day by Agricultural Development and Farmers Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena at the Sri Sumanasaman Devalaya in Mahiyanganaya.

Under the supervision of Vajira Irugalbandara, Director Public Relations to the President, Lake House Web Manager Dharmananda Wijesinghe and his Internet team has designed this website. Photographs to this website were provided by Susantha Wijegunasekara.

All historical details about Saman Deviyo and Peraheras and other religious rituals conducted by this Devalaya has been included in this site.

The Saman Pooja memorial souvenir edited by Thilak Wehelle was also released at the same ceremony. This edition contains the annual rituals conducted by Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya and Saman Devalaya.

The Chief Incumbent of the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya, Ven. Panditha Urullewatte Dhammarakhitha Thera, Basnayake Nilame of the Sri Sumanasaman Devalaya Rajith Amarasinghe, Admiral Daya Sandagiri, Chief Trustee Janaka Bandara, Chairman SLBC Sunil Sarath Perera and other dignitaries and devotees participated.
