COLOMBO: Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is in New York to attend the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) organised by the Clinton Foundation from September 25 to 27.

She was invited by President Bill Clinton to attend the conference as a member of the Clinton Global Initiative Advisory Board on poverty alleviation. Kumaratunga also participated in the CGI meeting in 2006, where she made a keynote address on “Mitigating Religious and Ethnic Conflict.”
