State Media secretaries to educate public on Government development drive

COLOMBO: The aim of establishing the State Media Secretaries Association is to set up a mechanism to effectively educate people on the development drive of the government, Association of State Media Secretaries Association Secretary Harsha B. Abeykoon said.

Awareness among the public on certain development projects was minimal due to the lack of good mechanism, he said.

He pointed out that a good media management programme could only be implemented through a coordinated effort of the President's Media Unit, the Media Ministry and the Information Department. He disclosed that the Association was in the process of identifying development projects of national importance and to create awareness about such projects among the public.
