Lankan child in critical condition in Oman
Oman : At 8 a.m. on August 13, this Class I student of Sri
Lankan School, Muscat, fell out of a 35-feet high window of her home in
Hamriyah when her babysitter left her for a few minutes to use the
washroom. Though the Royal Oman Police got her to Khoula Hospital on
time, little Fatima suffered serious injuries to her brain, and is now
on a ventilator, unconscious and bloated.
Her parents Mohammed Shiyam and Inrul Imra Zarook are in a state of
shock, as their only child tries to cling desperately to life.
Unemployed, Shiyam came to Muscat two years ago, but it's just been a
year since his family joined him.
The family is in dire financial straits and Fatima's treatment will
cost a fortune. She cannot be taken to her hometown in Sri Lanka, since
her condition is extremely critical.
