100 gelegnite sticks under tea leaves

KATUGASTOTA: Gampola police manning the Gampola Kandy road checkpoint on Sunday afternoon detected 100 gelegnite sticks being transported in a lorry concealed under a stock of packeted tea leaves.

Two suspects were taken into custody in this connection. Investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, Kandy police manning a highway checkpoint in Kandy on Sunday night arrested a Naval rating in possession of two 5 zero live anti aircraft ammunition while on his way to Kandy.

Investigations revealed that the Naval rating, a resident of Anuradhapura is an electrician attached to the Talatuoya Navy detachment, our Katugastota group correspondent reported. Investigations are continuing.
