Wayamba Salterns opens

A new salt manufacturing plant was opened at Kalpitiya Road, Palaviya recently by Wayamba Salterns. The project comes under the Nipayum Sri Lanka 300 Enterprise Programme.

This is the first opening of a salt refinery using the world’s most modern salt refining technology.

This is the Krebs Swiss Salcx method, which is used by Wayamba Salterns. The company is confident that they can fulfill the table Salt needs of Sri Lankan customers.

The factory is part of the BoI 300 Enterprise Programme and provides employment for more than 200 permanent and about 500 seasonal workers.

To date a total of 238 projects under 300 Enterprise Programme have been approved by the BOI. The 300 Enterprise Programme seeks to develop one project in less developed parts of the Island. It is an integral part of the Government’s Mahinda Chinthana Programme.

Minister of Investment Promotion Navin Dissanayake inaugurated the opening of Wayamba Salterns. This is the latest project of the BOI’s 300-Enterprise programme.
