The plight of the Gypsy community
It is encouraging that yet another Presidential
initiative, by which President Rajapaksa has given instructions to
grant electoral rights to the minority Gypsy community, while
planning to settle them in the Vakarai area, has been taken. In this
regard it is reported that this initiative has been welcomed by the
Gypsy community and representatives of the Gypsy community have
agreed to settle in Tamil dominated Vakarai.
