Lankans lose to Chinese 3-0

Asian Schools Volleyball C’ships:

VOLLEYBALL: Sri Lankan spikers failed to overcome Chinaese in their third appearance in the Asian Schools Volleyball Championship yesterday. Chinese schoolboys recorded their second victory in the tournament beating Sri Lanka in straight sets in a close game 25-23,25-21,25-16.

The victory was not an easy one for the Chinese as Sri Lanka which is one of the strongest teams in the tournament, posed a big threat in the first and second sets. In the third set, Lankan lads lost their concentration and China gained the advantage to win the set at 25-16.

In other games played yesterday, Korea and Thailand won their respective games in straight sets against Philliphines and Macau while Indonesia won 3-1 over Singapore.

Even Sri Lanka lost yesterday’s game, they are still on top of the points table in Group ‘B’ with five points. Hong Kong remains at the top of group ‘A’ with four points after two games. C.W.
