Government seeks Gnanakone’s arrest

Interpol help to be sought:

The Government is working on the arrest of LTTE-linked Singapore based businessman Charles Gnanakone with the help of the Interpol, Highways Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle told reporters at the weekly situation Briefing yesterday.

Holmes undermined Lanka’s goodwill

Large number of aid workers still in North-East, says Minister Fernandopulle:

Regretting the statement by UN Humanitarian Chief to Reuters that Sri Lanka was one of the most dangerous places for aid workers, Highways Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said it was unfortunate that he forgot that there were still a large number of aid workers including those of the UNICEF, serving in the North and the East.

No suggestion that Govt not concerned over humanitarian issues - Holmes

UN Humanitarian Chief John Holmes, in a letter to Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, said he was not suggesting either to Reuters or in his discussions with Government leaders that the Government was not concerned about humanitarian issues.
