Enjoining order on Standard newspapers extended

COLOMBO: Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake yesterday extended the enjoining order that restrained the Standard Newspapers (Pvt) Ltd, its agents or employees from allowing to establish the head office of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Mahajana wing initiated by former ministers Mangala Samaraweera and Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi or conducting any kind of political activity at the premises of Standard Newspapers (Pvt) Ltd.

The Court also ordered to file objections and answers on October 16, 2007. The owner of Standard Newspapers (Pvt) Ltd premises Kosala Darmadasa of No 165, Castle Street, Colombo 8 filed a plaint on July 31, before the Colombo District Court challenging the Company at No. 175, Castle Street, Colombo 8 against allowing the premises to establish the head office of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Mahajana wing.

President’s Counsel Ikram Mohammed with Thisith Wijegunawardana instructed by Nimal Rajapakse appeared for plaintiff.
