25 Trinco schools to benefit from ‘Tharunyata Hetak’
COLOMBO: Twenty five Government schools in the Trincomalee District
will receive computers and stationery items under the `Oba Venuven Api’
campaign of the `Tharunyata Hetak’ programme founded on a concept by
Namal Rajapaksa.
These 25 schools was initially being selected to address the
deficiencies in them including lack of infrastructure facilities and the
need to upgrade these schools.
Accordingly, computers, school stationery, school materials,
uniforms, textbooks will be distributed among these schools. The
programme will commence on August 16 and proceed till the 23rd.
Tharunyata Hetak is scheduled to launch a sticker campaign today (16)
at the Fort Railway Station aiming to raise funds for the purpose of
developing the schools. A sticker will be priced at Rs. 20.
“Basically, the organisation has selected 25 schools in the
Trincomalee district but we aim to extend this to the Batticaloa and
Jaffna districts where there is lack of facilities, before the end of
this year,” Namal Rajapaksa said.
Further 250 schoolchildren will be sent to china on an Educational
tour under the programme “Tharuna Huwamaruwa”. According to this
programme 250 schoolchildren from China will also visit Sri Lanka, Namal
Rajapaksa added.
