One dead, two injured after clashes between two rival LTTE factions
in Oslo
OSLO: One man died and two others were seriously injured during a
clash between two LTTE factions in Oslo on Sunday.
‘Selika’ Ranjan (Mullaithivu) succumbed to his injuries and Kannan
and Kuhan are in serious condition in hospital with gunshot injuries,
sources said. They also sustained lacerations due to Samurai sword cuts.
Reports revealed that clashes erupted between supporters of LTTE’s
Naval Commander Soosai and cadres from the intelligence wing led by
Pottu Amman.
Witnesses informed police about the fight between the two LTTE
factions on Sunday at 5.50 p.m. The clash between the two LTTE groups,
according to a report, started at a REMA1000 supermarket at Kaldbakken,
Oslo and ended outside a house at Gardsveien 2.
According to sources, two Tamils who sustained severe injuries are
receiving treatment at Ulleval University Hospital. One sustained both
pistol shot injury and a deep cut from a large Samurai sword.
The second victim was found in his underwear with a sword on a nearby
football field. He sustained shot injuries in the chest. He was shot at
Nordtvetveien.
According to hospital sources, both victims had lost a lot of blood.
They said the two had sustained serious injuries.
Another victim, who was driven over by one of the escapee’s car, is
receiving medical care. Reports revealed that he sustained minor
injuries and was in a stable condition.
Police recovered a sword and a pistol. According to the police there
were 10 people involved in the crime.
Three persons in a BMW motorcar was detained by police at the ESSO
petrol station at Kaldbakken, Oslo.
Police are looking for a VW Caravelle and a red car which sped from
the crime scene.
Police have some suspects’ name and are hoping to apprehend them
soon. According to another source, there are 15 witnesses in addition to
the injured.
Meanwhile a clash between the two rival factions were reported on
Saturday near the Hindu Temple in Oslo, where nearly 3,000 people
congregated for a 10-day annual temple celebration.
Tamils told Police Sunday’s fight was pre-planned. They said Sunday’s
fight had nothing to do with the earlier clashes at the temple.
