CSE positive sentiments

THE activities of the Colombo Stock Market (CSE) yesterday was ended on positive sentiments with the All Share Price Index ending at 2427.37 (up 5.20) while the MPI closed at 3325.47 (up 10.54 points), its sources said.

During the day’s trading in the floor, number of shares traded in volume wise was 8,285,659.

During the day the total equity turnover touched around Rs 517.7 million and the foreign net buyers to the tune of Rs 66.6 million to the equity.

This has indicated that foreign investor participation is an important and decisive factor to create a vibrant stock market in the country. Further, local investor participation was not satisfactory due to the uncertainty in the market.

Heavily traded companies in volumes were JKH 2,909,900 priced at 126.25, Dialog 2,362,900 priced at Rs 22.25 GREG 499,600 priced at Rs 9.75, Commercial Bank 365,200 priced at Rs 130.

The emerging sectors in the country are telecommunication, diversified companies, banks, finance and insurance, beverage, food and tobacco.

In view of the above most of the foreign investors are to take this opportunity to the maximum to buy fundamentally sound stocks in the market, hoping that market will pick up in the future.
