Micro Car body shells from Cey-Nor

State-owned boat manufacturer, Cey-Nor Foundation will supply
composite car body shells to Micro Cars.

Chairman of the Cey-Nor Foundation Rohan Jayasinghe told Daily News
Business the Cey-Nor Foundation entered into an MoU with Micro Cars to
manufacture composite car body shells last week.
The composite car body shells will be manufactured at the Cey-Nor
boat manufacturing plant in Mattakkuliya. The Micro Cars will provide
the mould for these body shells.
“This new project will generate 100 job opportunities youth. We need
to do some structuring for the Mattakkuliya plant to implant this
project. They expect to commence production from September.
Cey-Nor is also looking at possibilities of joining with the Ministry
of Transport to refurbish railway carriages with composite materials.
At the moment, Cey-Nor provides leisure boats to Norway as a
subcontractor. “We manufacture one boat per day and expect to increase
the production to two boats a day by October,” he said.
Cey-Nor will also enter into an agreement with a Bangladesh company
to set up a joint venture to manufacturing boats for Bangladesh.
“We have now embar- ked on manufacturing the 42 ft long-liner fishing
craft and also the 55 ft long-liner fishing crafts.
This is mainly for the local market and we have got orders for
long-liner fishing crafts too, Jayasinghe said.
Long-liner fishing crafts will be manufactured in our Beruwala plant
and production will commence next month.
Cey-Nor introduced fishing boats which could be powered by both motor
and sail with the Building A Future Foundation and the Belgium
Government.
The commercial production of these boats will commence next year.
The Chairman invited expatriates to make business opportunities with
Cey-Nor. Cey-Nor has ISO certification for their nets and boats.
Minister of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Felix Perera also
participated. |
