Why UNP boycotted seminar on Good Governance, asks Azwar

COLOMBO: Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs A. H. M. Azwar yesterday asked as to why the main Opposition, UNP failed to attend the two-day seminar on Good Governance meant for all Parliamentarians.

Speaking at the concluding session of the seminar at the Parliament’s main committee room, Azwar said the seminar was for all MPs.

“How come then that the MPs of the main Opposition failed to turn up and boycotted? Asked Azwar from Wijedasa Rajapakse MP who presided the concluding session.

This seminar was organised by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. H. Mohammed.

Rajapakse said all Parliamentarians should derive the benefit of such seminar, and also deeply involve in search of a lasting peace by attending the Select Committee on Constitutional Reforms and the All Party Conference.Sujatha Koirala, daughter of Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal Girija Prasad Koirala attended as a special envoy of the Nepalese PM.
