TTSC cricket sixes tomorrow

CRICKET: The soft ball cricket sixes tournament that has proved popular in the calendar of the Travel Trade Sports Club (TTSC) will be held on July 29 - where matches will be held concurrently on the Shalika and D.S. Senanayake College grounds.

It is being organized and conducted by TTSC for the 31st year, with the active support and sponsorship for the past eleven years by four subsidiaries of Aitken Spence viz; Travels Ltd., Aviation Pvt Ltd, Overseas Travels and Ace Travels and Conventions Ltd.

This was made known to the media at a briefing held on Tuesday at Aitken Spence by the President of the TTSC, Prasanjit Perera on receiving the sponsorship package from the Director/GM, Aitken Spence Travels, Ravi Subramaniam.

There will be 54 men’s teams and 8 women’s team drawn from Hotels, Travel Agents and Airlines taking part. The men’s teams are Lanka Princess, Neptune, Pan Lanka, United Holidays, Classic Travels, Browns Beach, Global Towers, Traveller Global, Hemas, Queens, BoC, Lihiniya Surf, Mt. Lavinia, Hilton, Taj Airport, Blue Waters, Eden Resort, Berjaya Mt. Royal, Coral Gardens, N-Car, Ceylinco, Kani Lanka, Dolphin, Cinnamon-Lodge, Topaz, Ramada, Riverina, Aitken Spence, Amaya Reef, Goldi Sands, Thilanka, Camelot, Mermaid, Hilton Residencies, Club Bentota, Whittal Boustead, Amaya Lake Resort, Chaaya Village, Walkers Tours, Travel Connection, Amja Travels, TGL, Saman Villas, Taj Samudra, Amaya Hills, Emirates, Ace Travels, Taj Exotica, Connaissance Holdings, Club Palm Bay, Hem Tours, Club Palm Garden, Ceylon Hotel Corp: and SriLankan Airlines.

The women’s teams are SriLankan Airlines, Club Bentota, Mount Lavinia, Amaya Hills, Ceylinco, Eden/Riverina, Amaya Lake and Dolphin. The matches on Sunday, 29, will commence at both venues at 7.45 a.m. There will be two semi-finals one of which will be played at the Shalika Grounds and the other at D.S.S., with the finals worked off at Shalika.

Special awards will be made to the Best Batsman, bowler, the Man of The Final and the Man of the Tournament (in the men’s competition). In the women’s contest special awards will be made to Best Batswoman, Best Bowler, Woman of the Final and Woman of the Tournament.
