Lankan spikers arrive in India

VOLLEYBALL: Sri Lanka spikers led by Nalin Sampath arrived in India
today to compete at the commonwealth Volleyball Championships which
commences on Monday in Kolkata.
The other countries participating in this year’s championship are
South Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, India
and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka team has two new comers to the side included
this year due to the retirement of former captain Kalika Wasanthapriya
and another senior.
The two new comers to the side are Janitha Sarath from Negombo Sport
Club who was a member of the Junior team last year and D. Priyashantha
from Karandeniya who is also promoted to the senior side from the junior
team.
The Lankan team is managed by A.A. Jayatissa while other officials
are Sarath de Silva (Coach) Lalith Premalal (Asst Coach) Kalika
Wasanthapriya, Trainer and Wimal Amarasinghe. The team: Nalin Sampath
(Captain), Sameera Prageeth, Morris Chaminda, Dimuthu Upashantha,
Janitha Sarath, Melan Jayawardena, Shamil Malinda, Tharaka Abeykoon,
Mervyn Kodagoda, Chaminda Priyadharshana, Udaya Rukmal, and Lasantha
Abeyratne. |
