UNP giving saline to LTTE - Health Minister

COLOMBO: The UNP is trying its best to give saline to the LTTE which is now feeble. The UNP tried to bring a lot of people to Colombo making it impossible for the Security Forces to check them which was aimed at jeopardising national security, Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

Releasing a special statement from Australia, de Silva said at the moment the LTTE holds only 10 per cent of the North and the Armed Forces will clear the North soon.

“But the UNP has started a conspiracy to clear the pathway for LTTE suicide bombers to enter the Colombo city”, he said.

The Minister is taking part in two International conferences on HIV/AIDS.

De Silva said the Armed Forces successfully captured the East due to the correct leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the Government and now their aim is clearing the North and eradicating terrorism from Sri Lanka.

The LTTE is trying its best to create havoc in the South to nullify the victories achieved by the Armed Forces, he said.

The LTTE couldn’t do any harm because of the vigilance of the Armed Forces. There is no need for the Government to hold a General Election.

The Government has a very clear majority in Parliament, the Minister added.
