IPM CEO to retire
COLOMBO: Chief Executive Officer and immediate past President of the
Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) Sri Lanka, Daya Bollegala
retires on July 31.
Bollegala is the past President of the Asia Pacific Federation of
Human Resource Management (APFHRM) and a former board Member of the
World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA).
He was instrumental in introducing several new projects, including
the setting up of a Job Placement Centre, launching of several Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) projects such as seminars to educate
three-wheeler and bus drivers, awarding of scholarships to the best
students at the GCE (A/L) Examination and conducing leadership skill
development programmes for school prefects etc.
During his tenure as President, he initiated in organising a Distance
Learning Certificate Programme in Human Resource Management.
He initiated discussions with the authorities of the Open University
of Sri Lanka (OUSL) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between
the OUSL and the IPM for joint institutional collaborative study
programmes to develop a Master of Business Adminstration Degree in Human
Resource Management (MBA in HRM). It was a remarkable achievement.
With a view to working closely with the CEOs of both public and
private sector establishments, the IPM organised CEOs’ breakfast meeting
and fellowships.
Bollegala was able to build cordial relationships with other
professional institutes in Sri Lanka and overseas. He is a Senior
Resource Person, Marking Examiner and a Course Co-ordinator for all
levels of study programmes conducted by the IPM.
