Call to support President's peace endeavour
GALLE: "We should strengthen the hands of President Mahinda Rajapaksa
who is untirely working for peace. We all should be united to accomplish
his task to develop the country, said Western Province Governor Alavi
Mowlana.
Mowlana was speaking at a ceremony to unveil the statue of former
Labour Minister late M.P. De Soysa.
M.P. De Soysa (Snr) resigned from the Senate to accommodate
Mrs.Sirimavo Bandaranaike in the Senate. This shows the dedication by
then SLFPers. "But the present context is completely changed receiving
petty profits is the most priority of them, he said.
"In politics no one could aspire to achieve greatness by refusing to
be loyal to his or her leader. There is neither short cut no any narrow
path to achieve success in politics." "The time when the President is
doing everything possible to build a united Sri Lanka and bring peace to
the country, all progressive forces should strengthen his hands."
Ven. Kotuwegoda Dhammawansa Thera said Governor Mowlana is one of the
most senior leaders in the SLFP who is always working for the uplift of
the downtrodden. He was closely associated with late M.P. De Soysa.
He has chartered a course of action for the last several decades for
the amelioration of the condition of the working class and had been a
tower of strength to all the SLFP leaders who ruled this country. Nation
Building Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardene, the Southern Province Chief
Minister, Pradeshiya Sabha members, Provincial and Urban Councillors and
