Be vigilant, Security Forces appeal to public

COLOMBO: The detection of an explosives laden freezer truck in Trincomalee and the preparations by the LTTE to celebrate the Black Tiger Day in Wanni in a bigger way has prompted the Security Forces to enhance vigilance in Colombo and also in the North and East, military sources said.

The Security Forces and the Police appeal to the public to be vigilant as the Tigers has intensified their efforts to create mayhem in Colombo as they failed to hold their ground in the East in face of advancing troops.

The detection of a claymore mine transported to Colombo from Killinochchi hidden inside the petrol tank of a vehicle used by a Government official has also rung alarm bells among the defence authorities about an impending terror attack in Colombo.
