Ananda cagers in superb 40-32 win

BASKETBALL: Ananda College beat Colombo South International
School by 40 points to 32 in their Under 13 boys `B' division basketball
tournament pre- quarter final fixture played at De La Salle College
courts, Mutwal recently.
The winners took a 18 points to 11 lead at the breather. Mindula
Kasthuriarachchi with 13 and Eranda Fernando with 10 points stood out
for Ananda College while Chalana Asanka with 20 and Hashan Achintha with
5 points were the top scorers for Colombo South International.
Kanishka Hashan who scored 17 points was the hero for Rahula College
in their 62 points to 42 victory over host De La Salle College, Colombo
in another pre-quarter final match played at the same venue.
Rahula cagers were leading 32 points to 15 at half time. Kanil
Janitha with 14 points was the other top performer for winners while
Nipun Roshan with 15 and Manoj Nishantha with 12 points were the best
shooters for the home team.
Amal International School outclassed Belvoir International School by
a margin of 27 points to 9 after having a 17 points to 6 lead at the
half time.
A. Shanol with 8 and Ahamed Marthoob with 6 points excelled for
winners while Galndlin Fernando with 5 and Sachin Withanage with 2 were
the main scorers for losers. St. Joseph's College, Enderamulla swamped
Alethea International School by 44 points to 18. St. Joseph's cagers
took a close one point lead at the breather (9-8) but gave a fine
performance in the latter part of the match to bring up the tally to 44
points to 18 to win the game.
Sajeeka Kumarasinghe with 20 and Sudheera Perera with 8 points were
the chief scorers for winners while Jasheen Fernando with 7 and Karun
Jayasinghe with 4 points were the best shooters for Alethea
International School.
Colombo International School, Kandy defeated Mahinda College, Galle
by 30 points to 22 in another under 13 match played at De La Salle
College courts, Mutwal.
Mahinda cagers dominated the first half 14 points to 10 but Colombo
International made a stirring come-back after breather to seal victory
by 30 points to 22. Levindu Alahakoon with 8 and Ye Jony Kim with 6
points were the heroes for Colombo International School while Kanchana
Dasun with 10 and G.G. Rangana with 8 were the top scorers for Mahinda
