Vaas delighted with batting heroics
CRICKET: Sri Lanka's premier fast bowler Chaminda Vaas said
that he is more than delighted to score a maiden test century on the
second fay of the first test match against the touring Bangladesh team
at the SSC grounds in Maitland Place yesterday.
The left arm paceman said that he had limited opportunities in the
past to make a big score but made sure that he took the maximum from
this great chance to hit an unbeaten century with seven boundaries. Vaas
said that he was also contemplating about the team's success and was
determined to bat well with the SSC wicket too in perfect conditions.
He said that scoring a hundred was his dream from the beginning but
started to bat in a more responsible manner during the last two years.
Vaas said that he had a good season with the English County side
Middlesex and simply continued with the excellent batting form. He said
that on a couple of occasions he had run short of partners to make a big
score but this time he found a good partner and was pleased with the
efforts of Prasanna Jayawardena.
