Indonesian suspect admits to heading terror network
INDONESIA: Indonesia’s top terror suspect admitted in an interview
aired Friday that he was head of the military wing of Jemaah Islamiyah,
blamed for a string of deadly attacks in the world’s most populous
Muslim nation.
Abu Dujana’s statement, aired on local ANTV television station, may
indicate he is cooperating with police.
Officers hope he will lead them to other terror suspects wanted over
the bombings that have killed more than 240 people since 2002.
Dujana, who was Indonesia’s most wanted man before his arrest last
Saturday, trained in Afghanistan and the Philippines, spoke Arabic
fluently and once met Osama bin Laden, police have said.
“From 2005 until now I was head of the military wing (of Jemaah
Islamiyah),” said the 37-year-old in the brief statement, adding that
before that he was a member of the group’s central command.
