Table leaders Kandy SC play Havies tomorrow

RUGBY: Defending Caltex League champions and current table leaders Kandy Sports Club will make their second appearance in Colombo this season when they take on Havelocks Sports Club in a Caltex League ‘A’ Division rugby tournament match to be played at the Havelock Park in Colombo on Sunday.

Kandy SC cannot be happy about their performance in their first outing in Colombo this season when they just managed to beat Police Sports Club 29 - 13.

Kandy had all the potential of running up a bigger score but they were restricted by some super tackling by the policemen who did not allow the reigning champions very many liberties.

Their hard running three quarters should display more fluency if they are to get the better of the Park Club with a big score. Kandy Sports Club are leading the table of points with 18.00 points from four games scoring 41 tries.

They have amassed 254 points against 19 by their opponents. Kandy who rested some of their key players in their last match should be at full strength and they cannot take any chances against this Havelocks side.

Havelocks Sports Club are lying fourth in the table with two wins in four games. They have scored 100 points against 52 by their opponents. Havelocks did well to beat Army but lost to Sri Lanka Air Force last week 20 - 26.

A little more effort in the second half should have ensured a win for Havelocks Sports Club.

Their fight back in this match came in the last ten minutes. Had they staged it earlier they could have won this match.

Kandy are leading the table points by virtue of bonus points as both Kandy and CR and FC are unbeaten in four games.

These two teams together with CH and FC have a chance of winning the title with just one point separating them. Kandy SC having 18 points, CR and FC 17.50 points and CH and FC 17 points.

Therefore should score more tries if they are to keep their position on top of the table.
