Nine bodies found in thicket

WENNAPPUWA: Nine bodies including two of women were found in a thicket near Dummaladeniya bridge in Lunuwila Road, Wennappuwa last afternoon.

According to Wennappuwa Police, nine bodies were recovered by Police following a tip-off by the villagers yesterday. "We believe the victims were killed several days ago and dumped near the Dummaladeniya bridge where the Municipal Council dumps the garbage", Police said.

"It is difficult to identify the bodies as they are badly decomposed. One person was shot dead and the rest were blind folded," Police added. Wennappuwa Police are investigating.
