New President's counsel take oaths

COLOMBO: Additional Solicitor Generals Shanthani Eva Wanasundera, Sarath Palitha Fernando and Wanjana Yuvanjana Jawaharalal Wanasundera Wijayatilake took oaths as new President's Counsel before the Supreme Court yesterday.

The Supreme Court Bench comprised Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva PC and Justices Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, Nihal Jayasinghe, Nimal E. Dissanayake, Raja Fernando, Nimal Gamini Amaratunga, Saleem Marsoof PC, Andrew Somawansa and Jagath Balapatabendi.

The Judges of the Appeal Court, Colombo Commercial High Court, Colombo High Court, Colombo District Court, the Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional Magistrates were accommodated on the dais.

After taking oaths the Chief Justice invited the three new President's Counsel to take seats at the Inner Bar. Supreme Court Registrar Bandula Attapattu and Nilmini de Silva officiated.

President's Counsel, senior and junior members of the Official Bar and Unofficial Bar, close relatives of the three new President's Counsel were among the distinguished gathering.
