Dialog Telekom gifts Sri Lanka's first digitally - equipped audiology centre

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY: Dialog Telekom, yesterday handed over the country's first digitally-equipped, state-of-the-art Audiology Centre to the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind at Ratmalana.

The Ratmalana Audiology Centre, constructed on the premises of the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind will be operational from June 15, 2007. The centre consists of a clinic equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and offers a wide range of tests including otoacoustic Emissions Testing, Auditory Brainstem Response Testing, Behavioral Audiometry and Tympanometry.

Chief Executive Dialog Telekom Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya said, "The Ratmalana Audiology Centre features cutting edge diagnostic equipment to facilitate the early detection of hearing deficiencies in children. Dialog is committed to its vision to facilitate multi-sensory connectivity for Sri Lankan citizens - the Ratmalana audiology centre - a gift from Dialog, accentuates our commitment to extend our vision beyond the realms of our business to meet the greater challenges facing our community.

Through the establishment of a cutting edge diagnostic centre, we hope we can make some contribution towards the mitigation of the incidence of hearing impairment in Sri Lanka. We are indebted to his Lordship the Bishop of Colombo, and the board and management of the deaf and blind school in Ratmalana who share this vision with us, supported us in this endeavour and made the commissioning of the country's first digitally equipped Audiology Centre a reality.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, the Bishop of Colombo the Right Reverend Duleep de Chickera, said "The lack of adequate facilities has been a major impediment in the diagnosis and treatment of the hearing impaired. The setting-up of a well equipped Centre at Ratmalana under a qualified technician goes a long way in assisting the hearing impaired".
