ANNIVERSARY: In 1997 the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka was on the
verge of collapse and the business world predicted that there would not
be any resurrection for us. In spite of the heavy problems and
difficulties the MBSL has gained its composure today, Chief Executive
Officer of the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Gamini Karunatilake said.
He was delivering the key address at a function organised by the bank
to commemorate the 25 years of the banks' existence and the first
anniversary of the Anuradhapura branch of the MBSL at Hotel Miridiya
recently.
The CEO of the MBSL said the Merchant bank has all its activities in
the field of banking, adjusted in keeping with the Japanese 5 - S system
to its maximum. According to him MBSL was the first bank pioneered in
adhering to the Japanese mythology in catering to customers, training
the staff, maintenance of office systems and in its managerial aspects.
He revealed that the results are fantastic and highly encouraging.
Karunatilake further stated that presently MBSL was engaged in preparing
the report on organising structure of the proposed Weerawila
International Airport.
"New Act of "Companies law" is effective in place of old Act which
was in existence since 1982. The local business community must be aware
of the benefits of converting a business in to a registered company.
There are 65,000 companies in Sri Lanka and the MBSL is well armed
with superior banking technology and strategies to assist on easy terms
in the re-registration procedures along with a excellent consultative
and advisory capacity", Karunatilake said. |
