Lankans remit Rs. 240 m for CIMA exams

ACCOUNTANCY: The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
(CIMA) has provided 300 professionals to the employment market, with
advanced professional skills. Many of them are in senior positions in
leading organisations in Sri Lanka.
A CIMA qualification is a solid professional qualification in the
international labour market, Divisional Manager, CIMA Sri Lanka
Division, Anura Alwis said.
Sri Lankan Students pay pounds as fees to CIMA London remitting
around Rs 240 million a year, he said.
"On this account CIMA Sri Lankan Division has recorded 12000 students
studying for CIMA in Sri Lanka. We generate around 350 pass graduates to
the local labour market per year. Apart from this 1800 Sri Lankan
members are residing in Sri Lanka and another 1800 of them are living
overseas. This shows the high visibility of the CIMA qualification and
the match of anybody with their varying state and the recognition it has
worldwide." Alwis said.
"Once in six months a student pays around Rs 100,000 for his or her
CIMA admission, subscription and the examination remittance in Pounds to
CIMA London. We provide lectures and tutorial services to around 2500 to
3000 students in twelve months time," Vice President ABS Limited
