Shell restoring supplies now
Gas Supply: The air attack on Sunday April 29 completely
destroyed the firefighting capability at Shell Gas Sri Lanka's
Kerawalapitiya Terminal thus rendering it unsafe to operate.
Shell has been working around the clock to repair the damage to its
fire fighting facility and is making every effort to bring supply back
to normal. Currently, two of the four fire system pumps have been
brought back into service while work continues on the third and another
is being air freighted on emergency basis from France, a Shell Gas Lanka
Ltd. press release said.
Shell is pleased to state that we have been able to ensure supply
throughout this unfortunate period to our maximum capability. Despite
the impact to our facility, Shell has, with the support and co-operation
of the Government, CAA and relevant port authorities, been able to
discharge a vessel on emergency basis through the port directly to our
filling plant at Mabima.
There are stocks of 2500 tons in our tanks and another vessel
carrying 2500 tons is at outer anchorage waiting discharge. |
