Apparel industry reassures buyers
APPARELS: The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) confirms
that production and export of apparel from Sri Lanka remains unhampered
by concerns on the recent attempts by terrorists to destabilise economic
activity in the country.
The security situation is under control and there is no need for
undue apprehension.
Airlines to and from Sri Lanka continue operating regularly with
readjusted day schedules for enhanced security of passengers. The
Colombo Port is working without any disruption and all other related
services are functioning normally.
As you are aware, over the past two decades, the apparel industry has
continued to flourish and increase its exports year on year, without any
serious disruption.
Even in the aftermath of the tsunami, which caused enormous
disruption to the economy, the apparel industry was able to fully serve
the needs of its customers.
Many of the production sites are situated in rural areas and as such,
the effects of terrorist activity do not hamper operations.
As always the industry will continue to deliver and our valued
customers need not entertain any reservations, as to the ability to
deliver on our commitments, a press release said. |
