1Q results boost market

BOURSE: The Colombo Stock Market has shown resilience due to the excellent first quarter financial results of leading blue-chip companies in the country, stock market analysts said.

With the release of the first quarter financial results many blue-chip companies including Dialog, SLT, Commercial Bank. John Keells Holdings, the stock market hopped into a satisfactory footing, Bartlett Mallory Stockbrokers Business Development Manager Angelo Ranasinghe told the Daily News.

During the day’s trading both indices showed varied reactions and All Share Price Index reached five points and Milanka Price Index recorded -0.91 points. Yesterday’s turnover was Rs 229 million, which traded more than five million worth of stocks.

During the day heavily traded stocks were Tokyo Cement, SLT, JKH, ACL and Distilleries.
