Earthquake in Indian Ocean

COLOMBO: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter Scale occurred in the Southern Indian Ocean at 11.40 a.m. yesterday, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.

The possibility of a tsunami developing is very low. However, the Tsunami Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology is closely monitoring the situation, the Department said.
