Labour Day on April 30

COLOMBO: International Workers’ Day celebrations will be held on April 30 this year, not on April 29, as we earlier reported quoting Labour Commissioner General D.S. Edirisinghe who stated that a Cabinet decision has been taken to this effect since Vesak Poya Day falls on May 1 this year.

Western Province Governor S.Alavi Mowlana said the new date was decided after the Trade Union leaders met with the President.

Minister Maithripala Sirisena as SLFP Secretary General has informed the Ministers, Chief Ministers, Members of Parliament and SLFP Organisers that the SLFP would hold its May Day Rally at 2.00 pm on this day at the Colombo Municipal Grounds.
