Hotel Breeta’s Garden: A tourist’s paradise

RESORT: ‘Ranjurawa’ is a small village located between Ginigathhena and Kitulgala, 1200 m above sea level. It is blessed with a cool climate where the average temperature is about 20 degree Celsius.

Breeta’s Garden has five deluxe guest rooms offering all modern facilities of a star class hotel. All guest rooms are equipped with hot-cold water, colour TV, attached bathrooms, piped music, telephone and a 24 hour room service.

All rooms have been built with private balconies, from where guests get a panoramic view of the beautiful mountains and waterfalls.

The restaurant serves the very best in traditional Sri Lankan, Western Eastern and Chinese cuisine.

A unique feature at Hotel Breeta’s Garden is the swimming pool built on top of a lush tea estate on which the hotel stands. It is said to be one of the very few swimming pools in the hill country.

Promoting Ayurveda around the globe

LANKEN TRADITION: When Sunil Seveviratne, Managing Director, Ayurveda Walauwa, Beruwala first tried to promote Ayurveda in Switzerland, it was only a dream. Most of the leading tour operators took it as a joke, but Sunil was determined to begin his campaign to spread Sri Lanka’s traditional Ayurveda throughout the world.

 received a tremendous response from leading tour operators who had visited Sri Lanka to learn more about Sri Lanka’s traditional Ayurveda treatment.

Seneviratne is the pioneer in spreading Ayurveda to the Western world and his company ‘Sri Budhasa’ was the first to release a brochure on Ayurveda.

Sunil is the proud owner of one of Sri Lanka’s pioneering Ayurveda hotels, the ‘Ayurveda Walauwa’, Beruwala.

He is also the owner of Hotel Paradise, Bentota. Due to his untiring efforts, a large number of tourists from Germany, Switzerland and other parts of Europe flock to Sri lanka now for Ayurveda treatment.

The ‘Ayurveda Walauwa’ is equipped with facilities for enhanced Ayurveda treatment, together with leading Ayurveda docyers, under the direction of Professor M.S. Cooray Vidyashekhara who treat foreign guests at the most traditional Ayurveda clinic which is equipped with all facilities.

Sunil Seneviratne is a Ceylon Hotel School graduate and his Swiss wife, Dr. Rita Albiez, is a medical doctor qualified in Acupuncture Dr. Albiez has a wide knowledge in Ayurveda and she is responsible for promoting Ayurveda in Europe.


High vegetarian food at Global Towers Hotel

NEW CONCEPT: A Colourful concept at the hotel began with a moment of traditional sitar with mellow light music, while the manager of the Global Towers Hotel Mano Perera and the Executive Assistant Manager Mrs. Tilome Nanayakkara opened the ceremony by lighting the oil lamp along with the hotel’s top VIPs.

The vegetarian buffet was highly commended by all the VIP guests who had personally congratulated the hotel Executive Chef Patrick Phillips.”

This was the first Friday of having vegetarian buffet, the next Friday will be even better, I am expecting a full house restaurant and thereby early reservations done would be advisable. Many families enjoyed having with varieties of high quality food which was laid in all attractive clay pots”. Said the executive chef.

Vegetable Biriyani, Curd rice, Thosai, idly, Ulunthu and Masala Wadai and over fifteen varieties of vegetables and a traditional vegetable Kool prepared by the chef with Odiyal flour. Payasam and Rasavalli and Karanaikilangu are some of them to name.


New GM for Trans Asia Hotel

APPOINTMENT: Meroy Marso joined Trans Asia Hotel on March 1 as General Manager. He brings with him 26 years of international hotel experience, specialising in food and beverage.

He spent the early days of his career in various hotels in the Middle East. He then travelled to Switzerland where he achieved his food and beverage management qualifications.

In London, Marso first worked for the Radisson Edwardian Hotels as Banquet Manager. In the latter fifteen years of his career he was General Manager for The Grange Hotel Group, which is one of the largest privately owned hotel chains in London.

He said that hotel would be investing around Rs. 100 million next year for a refurbishment.

PROMOTION: Margarita Blue Pub of the Galadari Hotel will present a “Draft Beer with Sausage promotion” from March 19-31 from 11.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.

‘Elephant Corridor’ enters bio-degradable material manufacture

NEW PROJECT: Mrs. Susanne Filippin who from the inception was a part of the conceptualising of “Elephant Corridor” hotel and its management as a Director of the hotel and Executive Director of the management company, now takes her associate company of which she is the Deputy Chairman into manufacture of polythene substitute environmental friendly bio-degradable material.

“We have looked at environment protection from the inception of “Elephant Corridor”. We are also going further and are currently studying the potential of establishing an alternative renewable Dendro energy project to produce 5.5 Mega Watt of power.”

“The first factory to produce the polythene substitute bio-degradable products will be launched by our new company Tropical Purity (Pvt.) Ltd. in a few months. A number of Consultants and Experts will operate this factory and guide the project.

I will also be establishing a liaison and marketing office in Germany, near Duesseldorf. Not only because I am a German Citizen but as this is strategically for us the best position in Europe,” says Mrs. Susanne Filippin.

Prasanna W. Jayewardene, our Chairman who is a Resident of Sweden will concentrate on these and our other project developments in Sri Lanka,” she adds, believing Sri Lanka and the current climate conducive for major development.
