Computer typesetting and DTP for school leavers
COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Institute of printing under the Ministry of
Mass Media and Information will commence the certificate course in
Computer Type Setting and Desk Top Publishing by August/September 2007.
The Institute has already started issuing application forms for this
programme due to the high demand and the selection of students will be
done after an interview due to the limited intake of students by Sri
Lanka Institute of Printing.
This course will provide the required knowledge and skills in
computer typesetting and essentials, computer knowledge, applications,
operating systems and basic graphic designing skills etc.
The course content was designed to provide the current industry
knowledge and skills to help employment in the Print and Graphics
industry.
The course is spread over five months with classes twice a week in
3-4 hour sessions in week days and week ends.
Each student is provided with a computer with long hours of training
with individual attention by the instructors. The course is being
conducted in Sinhala language with basic English terminology.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing was established in the year 1984
by an Act of parliament No. 18 to devote to the furtherance of
scientific and technical education, and the ever widening knowledge and
skills demanded by the print and graphics community in Sri Lanka.
