Grade Five, O/L exams from today for displaced students

BATTICALOA: The Grade Five Scholarships and GCE O/L examinations postponed in Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts will be held with effect from today (March 10 to 19), Commissioner of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe said.

The GCE O/L Examination will be held between March 10-19. Grade Five Scholarship Examination is to be held in March 18. Nearly 400 displaced students for GCE O/L and 150 students for Grade Five Scholarship Examination will sit this time.

Special examination centres have also been established for the benefit of the candidates. The admission cards and the timetable have already been sent to the candidates.

Valaichenai Hindu College and Batticaloa Hindu College will also be functioning as examination centres.

The students displaced from Mankerny Vidyalaya, Thirumagal Vidyalaya and Vammivattavan Kansitta Vidyalaya will sit the examination centre at Vishnu Vidyalaya, Vantharumoolai. Examination centres have also been set up at Mahweligama Vidyalaya and Serunuwara Vidyalaya in Trincomalee distract.

Somapura Somadevi Vidyalaya will be functioning as examination centre for the students displaced from Dehiwatta Central College, Vipulananda Maha Vidyalaya and Thoppur Padavipura Vidyalaya. Students displaced from Samboor Vidyalaya will sit for the exam at Agrabodhi Maha Vidyalaya, Kantale.

The civil officials of these districts said the resettlement programmes of these families of the students who sit the examination now has been suspended till the examination is over.
