Colombo Port facilities to international standards
‘Costa Marina’ cruiser Captain says:
COLOMBO: “The security and other facilities offered for foreign
shipping services at Colombo Port stands at a very satisfactory
international standard,” said Mario Moretta the Italian captain of the
luxury passenger cruiser ‘Costa Marina’ called at the Sri Lanka Ports
Authority controlled Colombo Port on Wednesday.
He said that they received a very high standard and efficient service
at the Colombo Port and the Port exists at a very good level in
providing technical and naval assistance as well. “I’m very much pleased
with the Sri Lankan people. They are very kind and open minded,” the
captain added.
The super luxury vessel carrying 700 passengers and 350 of its crew
on board consists of a sports gymnasium, swimming pools, drama theatres,
hotels, shopping complexes, libraries and also a hospital.
The cruising tours commenced since last November has brought a number
of luxury passenger vessels at the Colombo Port. Spirit of Adventure,
Funchal, Costa Marina, Silva Cloud, Island Sky, Herbridean Spirit,
Albertros, Ocean Odyssey, Seven Seas Voyager and Silver Whisper are
among them. Meanwhile the local agents for the cruiser Costa Marina said
that tours to Colombo, Hikkaduwa, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and
Anuradhapura had also been organised for its passengers.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy,
Police, Customs and the Health Department has taken effective measures
towards the safety and security of passenger vessels and the passengers
as well. |
