President in surprise visit to Nawalapitiya

NAWALAPITIYA: President Mahinda Rajapaksa paying a surprise visit to the Nawalapitiya electorate, unveiled a plaque to officially open the Kurunduwatte new city yesterday.

President Rajapaksa also opened the shopping complex and the People’s Bank branch in Kurunduwatte. Several other Development programmes underway in the region, under the supervision of Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, such as the new Police Station, the Patrol Filling Station, the Bus Stand among others, came under the observation of the President.

Thereafter, the President engaged in a friendly and cordial discussion with the people of Kurunduwatte and addressed their grievances.

Power Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Nation Building Ministers S.M. Chandrasena and Jagath Pushpakumara, Ganga Ihala Korale Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Ranjani Jayakody and Kandy District Secretary Gotabaya Jayaratne accompanied the President.
