Kandy Swiss Residency expands facilities

EXPANSION: The Swiss Residency Kandy is upgrading their hotel to meet the demand for the up coming winter season.

The hotel has already upgraded some of their rooms and soon would be opening their modern business centre.

According to Managing Director, Swiss Residency Kandy, D. Sarath Bandara Wijesuriya they are in the

 process of upgrading their conference and banquet facilities as they have a growing demand for both locals and expatriates.

“Since we have a strong conference and wedding clientele we have decided to refurbish and expand the banquet facilities,” he said.

The management would be also investing to improve their laundry.

“The hotel was built 10 years ago with a mixture of Sri Lankan and Swiss architecture,” he said.

Swiss Residency Kandy offers 12 Luxury, 27 Standard Air-conditioned rooms and the Royal Suite, which is also used as a honeymoon suite.

Assistant Manager Lalith Ellepola said that they have introduced several special packages to the locals and would be also organising private dining in their garden.

“We also organise excursions to Temple of the Tooth, Knuckles Range etc. (Jungle Safari)

Udawattekele Sanctuary, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, Sigiriya Rock Climb (day excursion), Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and Corbets Gap (day excursion). In addition special Gold tours too are organised.

Guest Facilities include Restaurant, Bar, Open-air Beer Garden, Conference and Banqueting, Swimming Pool and the Night Club. “We are also hoping to expand our Ayurvedha treatment facility,” he said.

He said that the hotel was doing well last year and had a 66 percent average occupancy and the staff was paid high service charges. (SS)
