Timely intervention saves mega vessel from fire
ASSISTANCE: The Colombo Engineering Enterprises, has rushed to the
assistance of ‘YM Comfort’ container which developed a fire and was
discharging oil in the Colombo Port.

Colombo, had developed a fire at sea in one of its container holds and
at the same time experienced a heavy discharge of oil into a another
container hold and even having its carbon dioxide fire extinguisher
system also discharges, called outside Colombo harbour for assistance.
Asha Shipping immediately contacted Kiran Atapattu at Colombo
Engineering where a team of top technicians were sent on board to rend
assistance to the vessel at outer harbour. With the assistance of the
Sri Lanka Ports Authority the “YM Comfort†subsequently berthed inside
the port of Colombo to discharge containers.
Colombo Engineering mobilized onboard a team of over 100 top
technicians who dismantled 150 Nos. carbon dioxide fire extinguished
cylinders within hours, re-filled same and refitted back.
The service was commended by the Yan Ming Marine Transport
Corporation of Taiwan, said Chairman of the Company Kiran Atapattu. He
said that he had won six top business awards in just 26 days for his
success in the business. |
