Terrorists and political fools
POLITICS: It is pathetic to read the accusations levelled
against the Government by the ex-ministers who like the former French
royality havenât learnt or forgotten anything.
Both ministers cut a very sorry figure when they try to act lilly
white while attempting their best to blacken the Government which they
served until recently.
They cannot be excused to consider the Sri Lankans as damn fools to
believe them as these ministers were collectively responsible for all
acts of commission or omission of the Government.
Be politics as it may, but, the two ministers should at least think
twice before overtly or covertly supporting the LTTE terrorists who are
now at the receiving end.
This is after a long period of vacillation on the part of Sri Lankan
policy makers who fought shy of giving the required leadership to the
defence forces of the country.
Irrespective of a number of drawbacks visible in the adminstration of
Mahinda Rajapaksa Government, it has to be stated that we Sri Lankans
did not have a leader or a Government which demonstrated to the world
that the LTTE.
The biggest threat faced by the country for last 20 years, can be
defeated. While the country and the people have no qualms over these two
ministers playing politics for their existence, it is hoped that they
will desist trying to disturb the countryâs resolve to floor the
terrorists.
Let them spare the national security and the foreign policy interests
from their political mud slinging as otherwise they will be considered
as traitors to the Nation.
The terrorists and political fools are aptly described by S. L.
Gunasekera in his book, Abomination. He says âThere are many derogatory
epithets which could describe Prabhakaran and the LTTE. âTerroristsâ,
âCriminalsâ, âThugsâ, âPsychopathsâ âMass Murdersâ are but a small
number of them.
âFoolsâ is one epithet that could in all truthfulness be applied with
absolute accuracy to all but a small minority of those who occupy and
occupied the citadels of power in Sri Lankaâ
Are the holier than thou ministers going over this mark when they are
seen cutting their noses to spite their faces? Arenât they in the
process throwing the baby with the bathwater?
