Conspiracy to sabotage Forces’ operations bared
Desperate attempt to bring disrepute to country
internationally:
COLOMBO: A conspiracy has been bared to sabotage the ongoing military
operations by the Security Forces who are trying to salvage the country
from the clutches of ruthless LTTE terrorism after liberating Mavilaru,
Sampur and Vakarai sacrificing the precious lives.
According to sources, these conspirators are making a desperate
attempt to bring disrepute to the country internationally giving the
impression that the Security Forces have recorded these victories in
Mavil Aru, Sampur and Vakarai after reaching an agreement with the LTTE.
These sources said that the conspirators are trying to show that the
Security Forces have bribed the LTTE to withdraw from these areas when
the troops were advancing towards these areas.
The conspirators are trying to give this wrong impression to the
public through the distribution of false audio cassettes, CDs, hand
bills and by inserting information in newspaper reports.
The intention of these conspirators is to reach their petty political
objectives by shattering the boosted morale of the Security Forces
following the LTTE’s major defeats in the face of recent military
operations.
It has also been revealed that this was also a part of the mud
slinging campaign against President Mahinda Rajapaksa and other leaders
of the Government showing that the Government had reached an agreement
with the LTTE.
Politicians from various political parties and political analysts see
this situation as a treacherous act by a section of people to reach
their petty political objectives betraying the country and the patriotic
Security Forces who are sacrificing a lot for the protection of the
Motherland.
JVP Parliamentary group leader Wimal Weerawansa yesterday told
Parliament that they are always with the Security Forces and praised the
Security Forces for liberating the people in Vakarai and Sampur from the
clutches of LTTE terrorism.
Agriculture Minister Hemakumara Nanayakkara, participating at the
Emergency debate in Parliament yesterday said that a section of people
always tried to belittle the victories of the Security Forces for their
narrow political gains.
The Minister said people should be vigilant about the views expressed
by some people as they are trying to sabotage the ongoing process to
defeat terrorism in the country. “We should always commit ourselves to
protect our Motherland whether we are in the Government or the
Opposition”, the Minister added.
The Security Forces also condemned these attempts by these
conspirators questioning them as to why the LTTE lost more than 700
cadres and lost the largest ever arms haul in Vakarai, if they really
had an agreement with the Security Forces.
