Swipe more and win more with American Express

PROMOTION: Nations Trust Bank, sole licensed issuer of American Express Cards in Sri Lanka, announces ‘Swipe More and Win More!’ - A guaranteed Win for American Express cardmembers, commencing March 1 to March 31, 2007.

Cardmembers who swipe over five times (each swipe above Rs. 2000/-) will qualify for a rebate of Rs. 100/- per additional swipe above Rs. 2000/-. The rebate will be granted up to a maximum of Rs. 2000/- and will be credited to the cardmember’s statement of April/May 2007.

All purchases made locally and overseas at any American Express merchant establishment will qualify for the rebate.

This includes cash advances, purchases on the 0% interest installment plan, payments made on recurrent bills with American Express Automatic Bill Settlement and internet transactions.

According to American Express, it is easy for cardmembers to qualify for this promotion.

“An average cardmember makes four to five purchases a month at supermarkets, at least two to three times at fuel stations, and a few more transactions for dining and other monthly purchases. These alone will qualify the cardmember for the offerâ€, Head of American Express Cards at Nations Trust Bank, Priyantha Talwatte said. Every additional swipe of Rs. 2000/- after the fifth swipe will be rewarded with a rebate of Rs. 100/- per swipe funded by the Bank.

“We want to reward our cardmembers who have over five swipes and use the card for purchases over Rs. 2000/-. The average transaction value of a cardmember amounts to Rs. 2000/-.

Therefore, we felt it appropriate to benchmark our reward on this purchase amount. We have been continuously providing best value deals to our cardmembers to ensure that the American Express Card is the best way to pay for any purchaseâ€, Talwatte said.
